The Turkish regime has a vested interest in the war between Hamas in Palestine and Israel. On one hand, Erdogan condemns the killing of civilians and supports a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine in order bring peace and security to the region.
On the otherhand, he himself sees the unrest in the region as an opportunity and uses the PKK as an excuse to attack both western and southern Kurdistan. After the explosion in Ankara, Turkey has increased its attacks on western Kurdistan. Almost every day, Kurdish areas are bombarded by aircraft, artillery and drones, killing civilians as well as hitting critical civilian infrastructure such as schools, mosques, water- and electricity networks.
We strongly condemn Turkey’s attacks on Kurdistan, particularly when Turkey talks about the need for peace and security in the region, but chooses aggression in its own backyard.
We call on Turkey to stop its attacks on Kurdistan and to take the democratic option and recognize the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan. For democracy to prevail in Turkey, the Kurdish issue must be resolved in a just manner, otherwise neither peace nor stability can prevail in the region.
The Kurdistan Diaspira Confederation calls on the ternational community to stand on the side of the Kurdish people and demand an end to Turkey’s aggression and attacks against Kurdistan.
